ANNE PARMENTER's 60th birthday might have been just like any other one but this year she received one extra parcel in the post. She was sent a home test kit as a part of the NHS screening for bowel cancer. Working as a teaching assistant at the time, she would joke about a cardboard box in the classroom containing her poo. Feeling "as fit as ever", she wasn't even going to do it but then she thought why not. Fortunately, that little poo sample saved her life.
