अमेरिकी कम्पनी एस्ट्राजेनेका की वैक्सीन का ट्रायल रुकना कितना जरूरी था, इस पर विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) ने गुरुवार देर शाम अपनी बात रखी। प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में वैक्सीन से जुड़े सवाल का जवाब देते हुए चीफ साइंटिस्ट सौम्या स्वामीनाथन ने कहा, ट्रायल के दौरान एक इंसान में जो साइडइफेक्ट दिखा, वो गंभीर था। यह हमारे लिए अलर्ट जैसा है।

क्लीनिकल ट्रायल्स में उतार-चढ़ाव आते हैं, हमें इसके लिए तैयार रहने की जरूरत है। हमें निराश होने की जरूरत नहीं। हमारे लिए दो चीजें सबसे ज्यादा जरूरी हैं। पहला, इंसान की सेफ्टी और दूसरा, वैक्सीन कितनी असरदार है। ट्रायल्स में आगे क्या होगा, कुछ नहीं कहा जा सकता। हमें रिपोर्ट्स का इंतजार है। साल के अंत तक या नए साल की शुरुआत में वैक्सीन ट्रायल के सही नतीजे आएंगे।

वैक्सीन की रेस कम्पनी या देश के खिलाफ नहीं
वैक्सीन पर WHO के इमरजेंसी हेड माइक रेयान ने कहा, यह रेस लोगों को बचाने की है। यह रेस किसी कम्पनी या देश के बीच नहीं, यह वायरस के खिलाफ है। इसमें वक्त लगेगा क्योंकि हम चाहते हैं जो हो ईमानदारी से हो। अब तक महामारी के कारण 9 लाख लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है।

WHO की महामारी विशेषज्ञ मारिया वेन ने कहा, इस समय हम लोग वायरस को कंट्रोल करने की बेहतर स्थिति में हैं। इस महामारी का भविष्य में क्या असर दिखेगा, इस पर कुछ कहा नहीं जा सकता। फिलहाल इस वायरस से सभी को मिलकर लड़ना होगा।

WHO के सीनियर एडवाइजर डॉ. ब्रूस ने कहा, हर ट्रायल की स्पीड एक जैसी नहीं हो सकती, यही सच्चाई है। लोगों पर ट्रायल करने के लिए उनकी भर्ती करनी पड़ती और एक तय प्रक्रिया से गुजरना पड़ता है।

सिर्फ डेक्सामेथासोन दवा ही असरदार साबित हुई

WHO के महानिदेशक डॉ. टेड्रोस अधानोम ने कहा, हमने कोविड-19 से लड़ने के लिए जो प्रोग्राम शुरू किया है, उसमें अब तक 38 बिलियन डॉलर की फंडिंग हुई है। यह हमारी जरूरत का मात्र 10 फीसदी ही है। टेड्रोस ने एक सवाल के जवाब में कहा, मुझे एक चीज जो परेशान करती है वो एकता की कमी। जब हम बंट जाते हैं जो यह स्थिति वायरस के लिए एक मौका बन जाती है।

कोविड-19 के गंभीर मरीजों के लिए डेक्सामेथासोन काफी असरदार दवा साबित हो रही है, जबकि दूसरी दवाएं इलाज में कारगर नहीं रही हैं। उनमें से कुछ का ट्रायल चल भी रहा है। करीब 180 वैक्सीन पर काम चल रहा है और 35 वैक्सीन ह्यूमन ट्रायल की स्टेज पर हैं।
