'It all happened quite quickly' Man, 65, battled cancer after suffering no symptoms



PROSTATE CANCER remains the most common cancer in men across the UK, but for the 52,300 new prostate cancer cases in the UK every year, many remain asymptomatic. The NHS puts in great efforts to catch cancer symptoms early without needing to see a GP



PHARMACY staff will be given powers to send patients for cancer checks if they spot symptoms as part of a drive to boost early diagnosis. A pilot scheme will see customers referred directly for scans and tests without needing to see a GP. Symptoms that could trigger a referral from a community pharmacy team include a cough lasting more than three weeks, difficulty swallowing or blood in urine.
