दुनियाभर की तरह फिलीपींस में भी कोरोना और लॉकडाउन के कारण हजारों लोगों की नौकरी गई। इनमें से ही एक रोनाल्डो रोजेरियो भी है। रोनाल्डो स्थानीय फूड चेन से जुड़ा था। दो माह के बच्चे और पत्नी की देखभाल के लिए उसने किराए से साइकिल लेकर राइस केक बेचने का काम शुरू कर दिया। पर कमाई का बड़ा हिस्सा साइकिल के किराए और उसकी मरम्मत में खर्च हो जाता था। ऐसे में उसे करेज टू बी काइंड फाउंडेशन से एक नई साइकिल मिली।
इस फाउंडेशन ने वन बाइक एट ए टाइम पहल के तहत अब तक रोनाल्डो जैसे 50 से ज्यादा जरूरतमंदों की मदद की है। इस पहल के पीछे दंपती ग्लैंडा और जॉर्ज कैनलस हैं।
सालभर पहले हुई थी बेटे की मौत
दंपती ग्लैंडा और जॉर्ज कैनलस के 17 साल के बेटे बेंजामिन की सालभर पहले मौत हो गई थी। उसने कई बार साइकिल चलाने वालों की मदद की थी। इसी प्रेरणा से कैनलस दंपती ने फाउंडेशन के जरिए साइकिल देना शुरू किया। इसमें यह जरूरी था कि कोई परिचित नामित करे ताकि जरूरत के बारे में पता चल सके।
लॉकडाउन में बेरोजगारों को मिली बड़ी मदद
लॉकडाउन के दौरान नौकरी गंवाने वालों, फूड और पार्सल डिलीवरी के काम से जुड़े लोगों को प्राथमिकता दी गई। क्योंकि धूप, बारिश या ठंड हो, हर मौसम में उन्हें तकलीफ होती है। इस पहल की खासी चर्चा है, स्थिति यह है कि नामांकन बंद होने के बाद भी रजिस्ट्रेशन की कतार है। यह व्यवस्था भी है कि काम के लिए बाइक ले जाएं और बाद में रख सकते हैं। पब्लिक ट्रांसपोर्ट बंद और कोई व्यवस्था न होने पर जरूरतमंदों को इससे बड़ी मदद मिली है।

कोरोनावायरस से जुड़ी नई जानकारी सामने आई है। यह वायरस इंसान के इम्यून सिस्टम को चकमा देकर संक्रमण फैलाने की कोशिश करता है ताकि रोगों से लड़ने वाला सिस्टम उसे पहचान न सके। कोरोनावायरस एक मॉलिक्यूल की मदद से अपने जेनेटिक सीक्वेंस को उस रूप में ढाल लेता है जिससे यह पीड़ित के जेनेटिक सीक्वेंस का हिस्सा लगने लगता है। शोधकर्ताओं का कहना है कि यह नई जानकारी से कोरोनावायरस के खिलाफ एंटीवायरल दवाइयां बनाने में मदद मिलेगी।
कोरोना ऐसे देता है चकमा
यह दावा अमेरिका के टेक्सास हेल्थ साइंस सेंटर के शोधकर्ताओं ने अपनी रिसर्च में किया है। नेचर कम्युनिकेशंस जर्नल में प्रकाशित शोध के मुताबिक, मॉलिक्यूल एनएसपी10 वायरस के एम-आरएनए को पीड़ित व्यक्ति की कोशिका के एम-आरएनए जैसे रूप में ढाल देता है। ऐसा होने पर वायरस संक्रमित के इम्यून सिस्टम की पकड़ में आने से बच जाता है।
नई दवा इम्यून सिस्टम को अलर्ट करेगी
शोधकर्ता योगेश गुप्ता के मुताबिक, कोरोना एक तरह से भ्रमित करता है। कोरोना का एम-आरएनए मरीज के एम-आरएनए की तरह लगता है, इसलिए इम्यून सिस्टम इसे बाहरी तत्व नहीं समझ पाता। इसे ध्यान में रखते हुए दवा तैयार करने की जाएगी तो ये कोरोना पर असरदार साबित होगी क्योंकि जब कोरोना का ऐसा कर पाना मुश्किल होगा। दवा देने के बाद इम्यून सिस्टम मरीज और कोरोना के एम-आरएनए में अंतर समझ पाएगा और वायरस को बाहरी तत्व समझकर इससे लड़ने की कोशिश करेगा।

शोधकर्ता रॉबर्ट रोमास के मुताबिक, रिसर्चर योगेश गुप्ता ने वायरस के उस एंजाइम का 3डी स्ट्रक्चर खोजा है जिसकी मदद से कोरोना रेप्लिकेट होता है यानी मरीज के शरीर में अपनी संख्या को बढ़ाता है। अब तक कोरोना पर यह नई जानकारी सामने आई है।
