The NHS puts in great efforts to catch cancer symptoms early without needing to see a GP
PHARMACY staff will be given powers to send patients for cancer checks if they spot symptoms as part of a drive to boost early diagnosis. A pilot scheme will see customers referred directly for scans and tests without needing to see a GP. Symptoms that could trigger a referral from a community pharmacy team include a cough lasting more than three weeks, difficulty swallowing or blood in urine.
