Doctors explain why you should never hold in a sneeze - 'Dangerous manoeuvre' - BMJ study



SNEEZING is a mechanism the body uses to clear the nose from any foreign matter, such as pollen or dust. The reflex causes a significant build-up of pressure in the lung that suddenly escapes through exhalation. When this pressure is held in, however, damage may follow.
